Born 1978 in Chattisgarh, Sheikh Hifzul passed his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Fine Art from Khairagarh. His narrative work in a fine blend of realistic and imaginative figuration appears highly influenced by folk imagery of the Jharkhand region he comes from. Using bold and subtle contrasting colors, the artist brings out the hidden emotions of his subjects that include men and women, animals and plants, objects and hybrid forms. Decorative elements and motifs adorn his figuration, be it in human form or from animal world, some that relate to folk tales and others that seem to belong to the world of science fiction. The young artist's work has already featured in several shows in various parts of India.
