Anant Mishra has given Indian gods a whole new cool avatar. In several paintings, Mishra shows Indian gods as modern-day avatars, with outfits and backdrops right out of a Marvel comic book. Anant, who hails from Jharkhand, says he wants to show that Indian mythology has had superheroes long before the West came up with them. Born in 1983, in Bihar, Anant completed his Master of Fine Arts in 2007, from the College of Art, New Delhi 2005 Bachelor of Fine Arts, College of Art, New Delhi Anant Mishra distorts the subject matter tounveil the layers that cloak our personalities often portraying his subjects as refracted caricatures with disproportionate limbs caught in the middle of what appears to be a rather bizarre or awkward moment.
